Police Make Arrest in February Domestic Related Homicide in Upper Marlboro



Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested 21 year-old Jonathan Alexander Battle in connection with the death of his father, 42 year-old Anthony Donell Battle, stemming from a domestic related altercation that occurred on February 23, 2009.     

Battle, of the 12800 block of Carousel Court, Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was arrested last night at his residence in Upper Marlboro without incident.  He is charged with second degree murder and was remanded to the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

On February 23, 2009, at approximately 1:15 p.m., officers responded to the 12800 block of Carousel Court for a report of an unresponsive person.  Upon their arrival, officers found an unconscious Anthony Donell Battle at the scene.  He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On June 23, 2009, investigators were notified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner advised that the cause of the victim’s death was a result of cardiac arrhythmia associated with the physical altercation with his son.  Investigators immediately obtained an arrest warrant for Jonathan Alexander Battle.
