Prince George’s County, Maryland…. The Prince George's County Police Department is committed to ensuring that students are provided a safe transit to and from school. 

The “Back to School Initiative” will utilize members from the Community Services Division, Special Operations Division, Traffic Enforcement Unit and District COP’s officers to distribute personal safety information to students, as well as conduct proactive enforcement in school zones. 

The Community Services Division and District COP’s officers will be visiting schools to meet with school staff members, students and parents throughout this week.  During their time of visitation, officers will be discussing various topics, such as:  traffic safety, bullying, truancy, cyber safety and ways to create a safer school environment.

The Special Operations Division, Traffic Enforcement Unit and patrol personnel will be assigned to various schools during the morning and afternoon hours.  Their primary focus will be on speeding, aggressive driving, unlawful passing of school busses and illegal vending.
