Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested Leonardo Baty, 22, of Washington D.C., in connection with the August 13, 2008, death of Denver Kenneth Cannedy.
Baty, of the 1600 block of Evarts Street, was arrested for an open warrant for First Degree Murder on December 20, 2008, after being stopped for a traffic violation at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Mississippi Avenue in S.E. Washington, D.C. He is being held at the D.C. jail awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
On August 13, 2008, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers responded to the 6100 block of Old Central Avenue for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered Denver Kenneth Cannedy, 19, of the 500 block of Capitol Heights Boulevard, lying in the street with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died a short time later. Investigators say the victim may have been arguing with someone just prior to the shooting.
