Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested 21 year old Sylvester Charles Mitchell in connection with the shooting deaths of Maurice Alton Stanley, Levar Tyran Jones and Larry Cornell Johnson. On November 20, 2008, Mitchell, of no fixed address, was arrested in the area of Galveston Street, S.E. in Washington, D.C., without incident. He was charged with three counts of First Degree Murder and remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro with no bond. The first incident occurred on October 28, 2008, at approximately 5:34 a.m., when officers responded to the 3300 block of Walters Lane in Forestville, Maryland, to check on the welfare of a male lying on the ground. Upon arrival, officers found 29 year old Maurice Alton Stanley of the 6400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Forestville, Maryland, with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Stanley was pronounced dead on the scene. The second incident occurred on November 2, 2008, at approximately 1:44 a.m., when officers responded to the 3300 block of Walters Lane in Forestville, Maryland, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. Levar Tyran Jones, 29, of the 3700 block of Solomons Island Road in Huntingtown, Maryland, was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The second victim, 28 year-old Larry Cornell Johnson of the 5600 block of Long Beach Road in Saint Leonard, Maryland, died at a local hospital on November 7, 2008.
