Prince George’s County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit closed five recent homicides that occurred in the Landover, Suitland, and Temple Hills areas over the past two weeks with four arrests.
Jacob Lyntellus Brooks, 19, of the 1300 block of Bell Haven Drive, Landover, Maryland, has been charged in connection with the homicide of 36 year-old Daryl Tyrone Clark of Landover. On November 3, 2008, at approximately 5:40 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Cedarwood Court, Landover, Maryland, for the report of a shooting where they located Clark lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An arrest warrant charging First Degree Murder has been issued as a detainer for Brooks who is currently incarcerated at the Prince George's County Department of Corrections.
In the second case, Damien Von Wheeler, 23, of the 16000 block Excaliber Road in Bowie, Maryland was arrested in connection with the homicide of 19 year-old Deangelo Kevin Alston of Oxon Hill. On November 9, 2008, at approximately 7:06 p.m., officers responded to the 4100 block of Apple Orchard Court, Suitland, Maryland for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Alston dead on the scene from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Wheeler was arrested on November 13, 2008 in the 1900 block of Village Green Drive, Palmer Park, Maryland without incident. He has been charged with manslaughter and remanded to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections on a $50,000 bond.
In the third case, Darrell Raynard McCarty, 19, of the 5600 block of Regency Park Court, Suitland, Maryland was arrested in connection with the homicides of 26 year-old Mario Nathaniel Shepard of Cheltenham, and 23 year-old Kelvin Antonio Franklin, of Upper Marlboro. On November 7, 2008, at approximately 8:14 a.m., officers responded to Cedar Hill Cemetery located in the 4000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland where they found Shepard and Franklin located inside the cemetery dead from gunshot wounds. McCarty was arrested at his place of residence on November 15, 2008 without incident. He was charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and remanded to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
In the last case, Brandon Christopher Reeves, 20, of the 6100 block of Middleton Lane, Temple Hills, Maryland was arrested in connection with the homicide of 53 year-old Charles Leroy Ware of Temple Hills. On November 7, 2008, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to the 5000 block of Wilkins Drive, Temple Hills, Maryland, for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located Ware dead on the scene with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Reeves was arrested on November 18, 2008 without incident and has been remanded to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
“These arrests are an example and result of the everyday persistent work done by our investigators along with the help from our citizens. It is gratifying to have these violent criminals off the street and be able to bring some closure to the families of the victims,” said Major Daniel Dusseau, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division.
