Prince George’s County to Host Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

“Diversity United, Building America’s Future Today”
 

Upper Marlboro, MD – On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III will join Council Chair Andrea Harrison, Council Member Will Campos, several Council members and government officials to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Prince George’s County Administration Building in Upper Marlboro from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  The national theme for this year’s celebration is” “Diversity United, Building America’s Future Today.”

“One of the amazing and beautiful aspects of our County is the diversity of people and cultures we have here,” said Baker.  “With diversity comes great food, music, art and people who add to the tapestry that makes Prince George’s County unique. I am looking forward to the opportunity to celebrate the rich culture, history and continuous positive influence the Latino community contributes to our county, state and country.  Our diversity makes this County one of the best places to live, invest, work and visit in the Washington Metropolitan Area.”

The Federal Government has designated September 15th to October 15th as Hispanic Heritage Month. This Prince George’s County event will showcase  the numerous contributions that the Latino community makes in the County through stories, songs, speeches and art.
 
The event is in collaboration with the Office of the County Executive, the Office of the County Council, and the Office of Community Relations.
