LARGO, MD- In conjunction with America Recycles Day, the Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources (DER) and Keep Prince George’s County Beautiful will sponsor a countywide Recycle Right Contest from November 9 through November 30, 2009.

The contest is designed to encourage residential recycling and to recognize residents for recycling correctly.  To participate, County citizens and residents must place their properly prepared recycling bins/carts at the curb on their regularly scheduled collection day during the contest period.

The criteria for selecting the winners will include having the arrow on the cart lids and lift bars facing the street, bins at the curb, material preparation, cleanliness, the absence of unacceptable items and the variety of materials.  DER’s Recycling Team will judge the recycling bins/carts on randomly selected streets/blocks and a winner will be selected from each Council District. 

Winners will receive prizes donated by DER and the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments.  If winners are not at home at time of selection, they will be notified by mail.
