Prince George’s County Celebrates November as
National Adopt-a-Senior Pet Month

Largo, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources’ (DER) Animal Management Group (AMG) will commemorate November as National Adopt-a-Senior Pet month.  To celebrate, during the month of November, all adoption and microchip fees will be waived for any pet over the age of seven adopted from the facility.

Senior pets, also referred to as mature pets, still have many years ahead of them to give and receive love.  Some of the advantages of owning a mature pet are that they are already housebroken; they are calmer and less energetic than their younger counterparts; and many already know a few tricks that they can share with their new owners.  Another benefit is that adopters will already know how big their new companion will get and what they will look like, which is something you can not guarantee with a puppy or kitten.

If you have room in your home and your heart for a mature pet searching for a friendly home, AMG invites you to take advantage of the reduced fees and visit the County’s animal shelter to find your new best friend.

For more information, please contact the Animal Management Group at (301) 780-7200 or visit its website at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/DER/AMG.
