UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George George’s County Executive Jack Johnson joined Regional Area Manager, Aaron Brown, Lanham Store Manager, Israel Shimlis and WKYS Personality, Antonio on Friday, October 30th at 7970 Annapolis Road, Lanham, Maryland for their ribbon cutting and grand re- opening ceremony.

“Despite the retail challenges of these harsh economic times, I want to commend the RoomStore for reinvesting in the community, in which their store has resided over the past decade.  You clearly understand the value of community partnerships,” said Johnson.

The renovations began in September 2009 and included a complete interior redesign, exterior painting, new upgraded exterior store sign, as well as parking lot upgrades.

“Our customers have been good to us through the years.  Historically this location has done well and we are optimistic that our renovations will help us weather the economic storm and will ultimately boost our sales, as well as our neighboring retailers in this community,” said Brown.

RoomStore was founded in 1992 by a renowned furniture family that established its first retail store in 1910. RoomStore began with four stores in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex in August 1992. Since 1992 RoomStore has grown to more than 60 stores in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, and Texas offering customers the best furniture and accessory values available. With over $350 million a year in sales, RoomStore is one of the 25 largest furniture retailers in America.
